To kick off Plenary II, Deverick Anderson, winner of the APIC Distinguished Scientist Award, will present on the future opportunities for Infection Preventionist, emphasizing the importance of research and stewardship. The APIC Distinguished Scientist Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the science of infection prevention and control. This award recognizes a serious and ongoing commitment on the part of the recipient to advancing implementation science.  

Following Dr. Anderson will be an entertaining and informative session by renowned expert William Rutala. Get a fresh take on all things disinfection and sterilization, including the "good" classification scheme, improved data, and new technologies; the "bad" non-compliance with guidelines for reprocessing medical/surgical devices; and the "ugly" endoscope reprocessing and infection risks that may expose patients.
